New and updated in 2025! The Study Lab offers relevant, online courses for GEAR UP professionals. The courses are offered on-demand so you can learn at your own pace.
About the Study Lab
First launched in 2020, the Study Lab was created to meet the need for self-paced, on-demand professional development for the GEAR UP community. In 2025, the Study Lab was redesigned with input from GEAR UP professionals and aligned to NCCEP’s competencies.
The courses provide GEAR UP professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to serve students, families, and communities effectively.
Benefits
GEAR UP-specific
Courses cover the knowledge needed for situations unique to GEAR UP and use examples from GEAR UP programs across the country.
Online and self-directed
Professionals can complete courses on their own schedule and anywhere with an internet connection.
ONBOARDING Option
Staff new to GEAR UP roles can especially benefit. Additionally, the Onboarding Learning Lab offers an NCCEP-led program that covers several Study Lab courses.

Yes! Courses can be added to support the onboarding of new staff - particularly Introduction to GEAR UP, GEAR UP Legislation and Regulations, and Understanding GEAR UP Match.

Completing Courses

Courses take between 30 minutes to two hours.

Paying for Study Lab

NCCEP members can purchase courses from $50 - $200.
Nonmembers can purchase courses between $100 - $400.

During the sign-up process, users indicate an email for invoicing. After enrollment in a course, an invoice will be sent to the indicated email or the contact on file for the grant. Invoices must be paid by check or credit card within 30 days.
