Why attend the Capacity-Building Workshop?

Each year at the NCCEP/GEAR UP Capacity-Building Workshop, GEAR UP professionals convene to grow, share, and find ways to better support students. You can visit this page to learn about the elements of the event (Burst Sessions, Workshops, and more).
Here, I want to share a few of reasons why the Capacity-Building Workshop is worth attending:
Every session is interactive.
You read that right. Every session. Our NCCEP staff works closely with speakers and facilitators to create sessions where attendees can talk to one another to explore content more deeply, share ideas, and ask questions. Even the Burst session (the morning keynote) has a place where attendees can chat – share where you’re from, why you’re excited for the day, and call out poignant elements of the keynote.
Content is relevant and useful.
Topics cover the gamut when it comes to GEAR UP programming. From administration and evaluation to student services, you’ll be able to attend sessions that are immediately relevant to your GEAR UP role. Each session will include information and handouts that you can take and start using right away.
National networking is built in.
With access to peers on a national-scale, you can connect to others with similar roles to connect, brainstorm, and problem-solve. Whether you attend an Exploration Lab or Open Lab, take advantage of interaction in sessions, or privately message other attendees, you can make the most of your access to so many colleagues.
