NCCEP serves as GEAR UP's voice in Washington, DC through it's public policy and advocacy work.
Our public policy team works closely with the White House, the U.S. Department of Education, Congress, and education associations, to promote academic achievement and access to and success in higher education for low-income students. NCCEP works to build relationships with key policy makers and legislators and communicate the importance of expanding and enhancing college access programs nationally. Seeing the impact of GEAR UP in their local communities, federal lawmakers have increased or sustained GEAR UP’s funding, now at $302 million annually.

The National Council for Community and Education Partnerships (NCCEP), the voice of GEAR UP in Washington, DC, bestowed the 2013 Champion for Student Success Award on Senator Patty Murray (WA) in recognition of her continued commitment and leadership in education for minority, low-income and disadvantaged students. Even before becoming a Senator, she has demonstrated her unwavering support of children and families in need, visiting with GEAR UP schools and hosting GEAR UP students and educators in her State and Washington, DC offices.
