Tyrec serves as Program Associate at NCCEP, where he supports the organization’s program efforts to provide training and guidance to the GEAR UP community. Additionally, Tyrec serves as the principal staff member in the management of the Youth Leadership Summit.
Tyrec previously served as Legislative Affairs Assistant at the Education Trust, where he advanced the organization’s goal of closing gaps in opportunity and achievement through his work tracking and analyzing federal policy and managing a newsletter to Capitol Hill staffers and Administration officials. Prior to joining Ed Trust, he served as Program Assistant at Charter Board Partners, where he managed logistics for board trainings and networking events, data analyses, and board assessments, to foster the organization’s mission to help charter school board members govern in ways that drive school success.
Tyrec serves as a board member and tutor at Horton’s Kids, a nonprofit organization that provides academic, health, and enrichment services to Ward 8 children in Washington, D.C.’s Anacostia neighborhood.
Tyrec spent his undergraduate summers interning at the White House and on Capitol Hill. Tyrec holds a bachelor’s degree in Government from the University of Virginia.
