Youth Leadership Summit (YLS)

The Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) provides a high-quality, 3.5-day national-level interactive training experience and peer-to-peer learning opportunity for 9-12th grade high school students currently participating in GEAR UP programs. The YLS focuses on life, leadership, and learning-to-learn skills for students who will be encouraged to share their experience with their peers, schools, and communities.

To secure your students’ participation, please send a request to NCCEP's Program Associate, Tyrec Grooms, at Once you receive an approval email from NCCEP, please proceed to complete the steps below.

Step 1: Select Students

Now that your request has been approved for the YLS, you will need to select students. NCCEP seeks to create a geographically diverse cohort, and encourages you to choose students from different schools. Read the YLS Guide on Selecting Students to learn about the ideal characteristics we look for in students. You can also provide students with the YLS Guide For Prospective Students to gauge interest.

Step 2: Complete Online Application

After selecting students, submit all of their information and authorization forms using the online application. In order to fill out the online application, please review the YLS Application Submission Guidelines.

Step 3: Register Students

All students must be registered in order to participate. The registration fee is $850 per student. Registration is scheduled to open in late April.
