In order to impact real change in college access and success for our students, we must work together. This is the idea behind GEAR UP Iowa’s Collective Impact model, which seeks to coordinate and align efforts across secondary schools, colleges, and the community to build a pipeline for student success. This presentation will discuss year-one successes and lessons learned in implementing such a model, including the need for balance between different interests, how to foster buy-in, and how to navigate local control while supporting state standards across both rural and urban districts.
