Concurrent Session #84 (Tuesday, July 22, 2014)
UCSC Educational Partnership Center’s GEAR UP project has developed a family involvement and engagement model that includes not only a Parent Academy of academic and college knowledge workshops, but individual academic plan (IAP) meetings and the continuation of parent’s engagement through a family information campaign, where interested parents are trained and prepared to visit the homes of other families to share what they’ve learned through their GEAR-UP experience. Presenters will share parent engagement concepts that have proved to be highly effective in a predominantly Spanish-speaking rural community setting. Join the discussion! This presentation is the first of two parts.
