Concurrent Session #76 (Tuesday, July 22, 2014)
The transition from high school to college is overwhelming for many students. Trying to figure out what each student needs will keep you up at night. But, that’s only half the battle. Keeping participants engaged in the program requires the support of higher education professionals, but getting buy-in from campus-wide constituents is a daunting task when piloting a new program. OVERWHELMED YET? Attendees will learn from the example of a GEAR UP Summer-through-Fall transition pilot program. Learn the best practices for starting and expanding successful first-year programs. A first-year program planning toolkit will be provided.
