Evaluation

There is no doubt that enhancing college access is critical through GEAR UP. However, getting our students to college is simply not enough, we must ensure students persist and succeed in college. In a prior study, we examined the academic factors related to students’ success in college, and this presentation expands upon those findings by comparing 298 GEAR UP college students against non-GEAR UP students. Can GEAR UP level the playing field? Participants will have an opportunity to engage in a facilitated discussion, share strategies for success, and gain an understanding of how to replicate a similar study.
