Concurrent Session #101 (Tuesday, July 22, 2014)
Grant Management, Whole Student
This session highlights the California State GEAR UP program and the intentional focus on systemic change to address access, equity, and social justice for all students. GEAR UP professionals and student advocates will learn about the statewide college access model that promotes a college-going culture through its work with school teams, students and families. Since 1999, the program has provided direct support to schools, presented institutes, forums and other public events, and provided resources, tools, materials and information to impact the educational reform movement. Through the Whole School Services professional development model, Bridge for Students cohort model, and the Education System Transformation model, California GEAR UP integrates the common themes of equity, access, and social justice.
