The President & CEO of the National Council for Community and Education Partnerships (NCCEP) Nathan Monell announced today that the organization has named Alex Chough Vice President for Government Relations.

Rowan University's Champ/Gear Up summer program isn't your stereotypical summer camp.

A recent report from the National Council for Community and Education Partnerships says that, among low-income students who took the ACT college-entrance exam, 95 percent said they wanted to pursue higher education, but only 59 percent of them enrolled in college right after high school. Among ACT-takers overall, 71 percent go to college right after high school.

At Cummings High School this week, about 40 incoming freshmen are getting ready for college by getting ready for high school.

Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is bringing motivational speaker Aric Bostic to Bullhead City to share his influence with the community.  Parents of River Valley High School and Mohave High School students are invited to hear Bostic speak at parent assembly held at 6 p.m. on Aug. 4 in the auditorium at Mohave High School.

Congressman Richard Hanna last week met with Utica GEAR UP representatives to discuss how the program supports low-income students and their families on their journey to succeed in college and beyond.

U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah (D., Pa.) touted the progress of a college preparation program he helped bring into being 15 years ago, and announced that the annual GEAR UP convention would come to Philadelphia next year.

The study, recently released by ACT and the National Council for Community and Education Partnerships, further examines 2013 performance on the national college readiness test.

That's the finding of a joint study by the college-prep testing company ACT and the National Council for Community and Education Partnerships.
