Utah State University GEAR UP has been collaborating with other local agencies to create the Hope Project, a initiative to prepare students to work in the medical field. Students learn about the various jobs that are available in hospitals and the skills to be successful in those jobs. The holistic program currently has 19 students and is hoping to see success as it moves forward.

The GEAR UP program at Palomar College is kicking off the school year in style! GEAR UP students and their families who will be served this year had the opportunity to go on a college visit and learn about GEAR UP while having fun. They toured the campus, learned about departments, and heard from GEAR UP staff and college campus staff.

As students in Michigan get ready to enroll in college this fall, the Michigan Department of Treasury is reminding students about Michigan Student Aid’s scholarship search experience. The search experience is a project that was funded by Michigan GEAR UP and the collaboration won the 2017 Governor’s Service Award for Outstanding National Service Program. This example of collaboration that led to a sustainable project to help all students is one example of the great work that Michigan GEAR UP is doing.

Palomar GEAR UP was highlighted for the work they are doing in their local community. Thousands of local students have been impacted by the good work of GEAR UP, and are becoming college-ready.
