Troy High School teacher, Cory Andersen, holds summer science classes as part of Montana GEAR UP. He has recently been in talks with Hecla Mining Company to discuss the possibility of partnering with GEAR UP. In the mines, a variety of skilled employees are required, including engineers, geologists, health and safety workers, and numerous others. Andersen is hoping that by partnering with Hecla, GEAR UP students will learn about the many degrees they can obtain in order to work at the mines in Troy if they want to stay in the area where they grew up.
