On Friday, May 1, Taft 7-12 High School chose to celebrate the graduating class of 2015 and the students’ post-secondary education plans with Senior Signing Day. The recognition came in conjunction with a federal Oregon GEAR UP grant and Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher Campaign.
According to the Oregon GEAR UP — which stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs — website, the program’s goal is to ensure that Oregon’s low-income middle school and high school students are prepared for education options following high school and pursue and succeed in those opportunities.
