As part of her Reach Higher campaign, First Lady Michelle Obama has issued two “challenges” to expand opportunities for students to pursue a postsecondary education. Finalists have an opportunity to invite the First Lady to appear as a graduation speaker at their school or institution.
The first challenge is for K-12 schools to submit videos on the work they’re doing to ensure that every student completes the FAFSA.
The second challenge is for institutions of higher education to submit videos on how they’re using near-peer mentoring initiatives to help high school students strive and prepare for higher education.
To hear from the First Lady and to learn about these competitions, visit the Reach Higher website.
Given that GEAR UP schools, colleges, and universities are leading the way in this work, we’re encouraging GEAR UP to be active in both of these competitions to highlight the remarkable work you’re doing!
