Ohio's GEAR UP Grant opens doors for PCSD students

Thanks a newly announced seven-year grant totaling $24.5 million, students in grades seven through 12 at Greenbriar Middle School and Parma High School can easily access college intensive programs.

The grant, Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (Gear UP), gives students opportunities to excel academically, while preparing them for college level courses.

The program plans to help prospective college students take the necessary steps to academically and financially "gear up" for college life. College Now will provide SAT and ACT preparation courses, along with college visits and financial aid counseling. Counselors from College Now will work with students and their families to find their dream college.

Additionally, Tri-C West and the PCSD will work hand-in-hand to align the curriculum towards a college preparation education so students can easily transition into their freshman year of college.
