The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission has received a $21 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
The grant comes from the GEAR UP program, which has been recognized nationally as one of the most promising pathways to increasing the number of students who are prepared to enter and succeed in education and training beyond high school.
The program will benefit 10 counties in the state, including Webster County preparing for college and career training programs
The program offers free college tours, ACT and SAT testing workshops, tutors and much more.
The HEPC said the funding will support college-planning and readiness services in those counties over the next seven years.
