NCCEP Webinars

NCCEP sponsors webinars that offer professional development opportunities for the GEAR UP community.  NCCEP's webinars are designed to provide tools, knowledge and skill-building around on topics that are national in scope, but applicable within the different GEAR UP programs around the country.  Past webinars have covered issues such as grant preparation, FAFSA assistance for youth in foster care, advocacy tips and scholarship programs. Aimed at improving educational outcomes and increasing the impact of community/education partnerships, NCCEP's webinars are a tool open and available to GEAR UP professionals to increase their effectiveness.

GEAR UP Alumni Leadership Academy

NCCEP's GEAR UP Alumni Leadership Academy trains alumni of the GEAR UP program to be leaders and advocates for access to postsecondary education for low-income students. Each year, approximately 30 GEAR UP Alumni Leaders begin with a week-long training program in Washington, DC that focuses on advocacy, public speaking, social media, and peer outreach. In the months that follow, students receive ongoing support for their local efforts through webinars that highlight personal skill development to trengthen leadership skills. 

Superintendent Leadership Institute

NCCEP's Superintendent Leadership Institute is a 10-month program designed to engage a small learning community of superintendents in senior-level discussions and experiential training. This shared learning opportunity focuses on the unique role of superintendents in creating, sustaining and strengthening the college going culture in GEAR UP school districts.

Youth Congress

NCCEP’s Youth Congress is a youth leadership program that implements a student-focused curriculum, blending leadership development with life skills and strategies for increased learning.  The Youth Congress is part of NCCEP’s Annual Conference being held this year in San Francisco from July 14 – 17, 2013. GEAR UP youth who participate in the Youth Congress will have the opportunity to experience being a part of a professional conference while interacting and learning with other students from around the country.  The students will learn strategies for increasing learning capacity, as well as relationship and communication skill-building.

Evaluation Technical Assistance and Training

NCCEP provides technical assistance to the GEAR UP community in their efforts to strengthen their program evaluation. NCCEP hosts the Evaluator Institute, a post-conference seminar for all levels of GEAR UP evaluators' following the Annual Conference each July.  NCCEP serves as the managing partner for the GEAR UP College and Career Readiness Consortium. (CCREC)   NCCEP provides technical assistance to new initiatives such as the Department of Education's College Savings Account Demonstration Project.
