The official Utah State University STARS! GEAR UP Greenpower event was held at the Utah Motorsports Campus, with 10 F24 Greenpower teams and 3 Goblin teams and it was an exciting day. The USU GEAR UP event was made possible by a host of sponsors (Malt-O-Meal, Pepsi, Lays, Macey’s, Smith’s, Utah Salt Flats Racing Association and Utah Sports Car Club of America) that donated to make the event a memorable occasion for all in attendance. The GEAR UP Greenpower Electric Car Challenge is focused on encouraging students as they explore engineering principles. The event is open to schools in the USU STARS! GEAR UP program; which prepares teens—many of whom are potential first-generation college students—for post-secondary education. The goal is to simultaneously get students excited about science, technology, engineering and math, and to pursue the higher education needed for careers in STEM. USU STARS! is a federally funded program that was designed to help students prepare for and succeed in college.
