GEAR UP 101: The Fundamentals of GEAR UP Programs and Services
The goal of this workshop is to familiarize new professionals with
the theoretical foundation, scope, and services of GEAR UP to help them
participate as an effective staff member of a GEAR UP project. The
workshop will help GEAR UP professionals understand their role in the
broader context of this national program, as well as better understand
its history and framework This workshop will provide information on the
basics of the:
- Scope of GEAR UP and how it works nationally.
- Philosophical and foundational elements at the core of GEAR UP.
- Programmatic elements of GEAR UP.
- Evaluation and outcomes of GEAR UP projects.
- Role of community engagement and outreach to GEAR UP.
The GEAR UP 101 Workshop is appropriate for:
- Anyone newly affiliated with the GEAR UP program. This includes
staff and partners of new GEAR UP grants as well as those individuals
who have just joined established GEAR UP projects. This workshop will be
most appropriate for individuals with 0-3 years of experience with GEAR
UP.
