NCCEP is pleased to offer a number of pre-conference events in
advance of the Annual Conference. To attend, be sure to register
for the pre-conference sessions during your general conference registration. For

U.S. Department
of Education Workshops--Sunday, July 22 2007: 1:00 PM-5:00 PM

Once again our collaborating partner, the U.S. Department of
Education will be hosting workshops for new and experienced
GEAR UP professionals. There will be four pre-conference sessions
addressing (1) GEAR UP match requirements, (2) grant administration, (3)
preparing for financial audits, and (4) performance reports/grant
close-out. These workshops will be conducted by GEAR UP
Program Officers and other Department of Education Officials.

NCCEP Evaluators
Institute--Sunday, July 22 2007: 1:00 PM-5:00 PM ($75 Fee per
person)
Program evaluation has always been an important part of managing,
improving, sustaining, and advocating for your GEAR UP grant.
Performing successful program evaluations requires the appropriate
application of evaluation techniques and skills that are not always part
of the typical knowledgebase of program managers and implementers.
Additionally, trained evaluators employed by some programs can often
benefit from learning how evaluation techniques and skills can best be
applied within the federal GEAR UP context. NCCEP has worked with
the Evaluators Institute Planning committee, a cross-section of
experienced GEAR UP evaluators, to develop and facilitate a series of
learning opportunities on GEAR UP evaluation through the NCCEP
Evaluators Institute. Three half-day Evaluators Institute sessions
are offered, covering a range of evaluation topics and targeted for
individuals of different evaluation experience. Please note the

the most appropriate session for you.

Aligning Products and
Services to Help GEAR UP Programs and Schools Achieve Better Student
Outcomes: Product Demonstration and Field-Testing Sessions--Sunday, July 22 2007: 9:00 AM-12:00 PM

The product demonstration and field-testing clinics
are intended for professionals managing college access programs. These
sessions will provide opportunities to learn about, see, and experience
products that have helped students achieve the academic success
prerequisite to college enrollment. These products already are being
used in GEAR UP programs across the country and are recommended to you
by your peers: fellow GEAR UP project directors.
