Engaging Business Partners in Education Programs: An Interactive
Web-based Tool to Recruit and Retain Business Partners (www.bizedkit.org) is
an online strategic planning tool that helps postsecondary access
programs develop long-term partnerships with the business community.
Funded by the Lumina Foundation for Education and created by NCCEP, this
tool:
- summarizes current research and trends in business involvement in
education;
- takes users through a step-by-step planning process for pursuing
long-term business involvement; and
- helps users build the case for entering into a long-term
relationship with business partners.
The unique element of this web-based tool is that as users navigate
through the site, they are provided with information, research,
strategies and templates that aid in planning. The result is a plan for
recruiting and retaining business partners that is grounded in their
unique local situation. After responding to the site's prompts and
interview-like questions, users are able to print and use the strategic
plan. They also have an outline that can be used to develop a marketing
piece to help communicate to business partners the reasons to be
involved with a postsecondary access program for the long term.
