"Senior year is expensive-prom, senior pictures, graduation, AP exams-so I started saving for senior year when I was a junior."--Maria
Here are a few ideas for finding ways to save:
Put $1 a day plus your loose change in a jar. By the end of the month, you may have $50 or more to deposit into your savings account. (If you don't have a savings account, click here to learn how to set one up.)
Do you buy something almost every day-say, a soda or snacks? Instead, take the money you spend and put it into your savings account.
If you get an allowance, put part of it into your savings account before you spend the rest.
When you get cash as a gift, stash some of it in your savings account.
Plug spending leaks-and save what you would have spent.
Get a part-time job or ask your family or neighbors if you can do some chores for them. Save part of what you earn.
