My Money - Earning It

What’s My Most Important Job?
You guessed it—staying in school!

Think of it this way:
What’s Worth More?

1. A job that pays $7 an hour, but cuts into your study time so your grades go downhill.
2. Not working very much, but studying a lot, which leads to great grades and a scholarship to college.

Answer: (2.) A scholarship can be worth thousands of dollars, and can help you get a college education that will pay off for the rest of your life. A $7 per hour job is great for now, but it may not lead to anything better.

Many teens work part-time while they go to school, and still get good grades. But they manage their time very carefully. Here’s a tip: Schedule your study time like you schedule work. Don’t let anything interfere with getting an education. At this point in your life, it really is your most important job.
