I Plan to Go to a Technical
or Trade School

Great! A technical or trade school is a good way to learn a craft or trade, such as becoming a carpenter, electrician, hair stylist, auto mechanic, truck driver, or computer specialist. Having a skill will help you get a better job with better pay.

Talk to your high-school counselor to learn which technical and trade schools have the best reputation, how long a program takes, and how much it costs. Your counselor also may be able to help you find ways to pay for a technical or trade school.

And remember, even after you finish a trade school, you can always go to college later if you decide you want more education—and more choices for your life.
