Visting Washington, DC

NCCEP is pleased to welcome you to the nation's capital for this year's Annual Conference. Washington, DC is more than just a political city - it is also home to a wide variety of historical sights, restaurants, monuments, cultural events and more. Knowing that many conference attendees plan an extra day in their itinerary to see the sights, we have created a brief guide to help you explore the city and make the most of your DC experience.

Getting to DC
DC is served by three airports:

NCCEP has arranged for discounted SuperShuttle rates for roundtrip transportation to all three local airports. Enter Group Code "GDB29" when you register onlineClick here for more information.

Conference attendees may also choose to take Amtrak to Washington. Trains arrive and depart from Union Station (WAS), a short Metro or cab ride from the hotel.

Getting Around
The Washington Hilton is just a half-mile from the Dupont Circle Metro station, giving you access to the country's second largest rail system. Between the trains and busses, you can easily travel in DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. The base subway fare is $1.65 and the base bus fare is $1.35; transfers are $0.45.

The Dupont Metro station is also a pick up and drop off point for the Georgetown Metro Connection, providing easy access to the Georgetown area.

Attractions
DC is full of exciting things to see and do. From museums to monuments, shopping to sports, there is plenty to keep you busy after the conference programs is done for the day!

Local Restaurants
There are a wide variety of restaurants in close proximity to the Washington Hilton that can serve any taste or budget. Visit Discover DC and search the Dupont Circle-Kalorama or Adams Morgan neighborhoods, or visit the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District for detailed listings.

Weather
Washington, DC is notoriously very hot and humid in the summers, though the hotel is air conditioned. Because of the extreme heat, rain is always a possibility. We encourage you to bring an umbrella. For the current forecast, click here.
