Student
Track: 2007 NCCEP/GEAR UP Annual Conference
NCCEP is pleased to once again offer a Student Track at this
year’s NCCEP Annual Conference. Based on responses from our
recent survey, this year’s Student Track will focus on College
Tours. The 2 ½ day event will be held in collaboration with Kings
College Tours. The Student Track will include two days of college
visits to 4 San Francisco area colleges: Golden Gate University,
San Francisco State, the University of California at Berkeley,
and the University of San Francisco. The tour also includes a Bay
cruise highlighting the history of the San Francisco Bay. Wednesday
events will feature a panel of local GEAR UP college students and a
financial aid workshop (tentative). Registration fee includes:
breakfast/lunches/snacks and transportation to each location.
Students attending this track must complete all travel release
forms, which can be downloaded below.

Student Artwork
Competition
In an effort to
include the youth perspective at the 2007 NCCEP/GEAR UP Annual Conference, NCCEP is conducting a contest to identify student
artwork that expresses the vision of GEAR UP students. Two winners
will be selected; the 1st Prize winner will receive a $1,000 college
scholarship and the 2nd Prize winner will receive a $500 college
scholarship. The winning artwork will be featured in the
Conference materials and at the Conference site. Applications must
be postmarked by Friday, May 11, 2007. Please download

GEAR
UP College Entrance Exam Scholarships
In collaboration with Peterson's, a Nelnet company, NCCEP is pleased to
announce a scholarship recognition program targeting GEAR UP students
demonstrating the greatest improvement in their academic preparation for
college level studies. Six $2,500 scholarships will be
awarded to GEAR UP students who have demonstrated the greatest
improvement in college entrance exams test scores and academic
achievement. Applications must be postmarked by Friday, April
